Analysis of the insular operating system in the area of Idrija

As part of the larger NEDO II project, we are dealing with the island operation of part of the network in Idrija. After the calculations of KS and ZS streams, we analyzed the functioning of the existing protection scheme in network and island operation and made the necessary changes to the parameters to ensure selectivity. We defined the parameters of protecting the separation point of the battery storage tank on the 20 kV network. A key finding of the analysis of protection in island operation of the network is that if the parameters of protection remain unchanged, the situation does not deteriorate compared to network operation.

Impact of the installation of SSSC in substation Podlog on the stability of operation of the portable EES of Slovenia

In recent years, there has been an increasing trend of load on transmission lines at the border with Austria, especially in the case of DV 220 kV Podlog-Obersielach, where overloads occur during times of high flows from north to south. Projections for the future suggest that these will continue to grow. The study analyses the dynamic response of static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) to interference and other transmission network events. It is based on a numerical simulation of the Slovenian electric power system (EES) included in the ENTSO-E network of continental Europe. Analysis of the performance of the SSSC shows stable operation without undesirable interactions. With the proposed control strategy, SSSC can successfully limit the current to DV 220 kV Podlog – Obersielach.
