Etermination of operational requirements for SVC / STATCOM device within technical specification related to SINCRO.GRID project

Client: ELES, d.o.o.

This study includes dynamic response analysis of SVC and STATCOM devices during disturbances and other events in the electric power system. The study is based on performing numerical dynamic simulations of a Slovenian power system, both in the interconnected and islanded conditions. The document content was determined by the device tender documentation relevant for the SINCRO.GRID project. The results provide both short-term as well as long-term expected operational voltages and frequency range. In addition, suggestions are provided related to installed power and targeted damping frequencies (local and inter-area) for the power-damping oscillation module of the device.

Implementation of a photovoltaic power station in the network of the city Bangui in Central African Republic

Client: JK

The supply of the city of Bangui is disrupted by load shedding, which has increased from 30 minutes in 2002 to 16 hours in 2016. A lack of electrical energy is critical. Despite the fact that the Mbali River would allow an increase in additional exploitation of water resources, such a project could not solve the problem of lack of energy in the short term. Other renewable energy projects are therefore needed. Especially the photovoltaic (PV) plants are interesting for a fast realization and the relief of the precarious situation. In this Technical Note the main principles of design, feasibility and integration into the existing ENERCA network are indicated. Steady-state simulations are performed in order to analyze the power-flow and voltage profile for various scenarios. Dynamic behaviour of proposed scenarios are also analysed using dynamic simulations.

Non-exhaustive requirements determination with technical argumentation of power-generating modules for compliance with the European Commission regulation 2016/631 (part 1: frequency stability)

Client: ELES, d.o.o.

The constantly increasing penetration of distributed energy resources makes it important to include them in the process of contributing to power-system’s stability. Prerequisite for such inclusion exists in the form of European Commission regulation 2016/631, which apart from providing exhaustive requirements requires that system operators determine non-exhaustive requirements as well. In this study, non-exhaustive requirements are suitably provided together with the corresponding technical argumentation, related to frequency stability.

Dynamic analysis of hydro-power plant Brežice inclusion in the electric power system

Client: HIDROELEKTRARNE NA SPODNJI SAVI d.o.o.

Installation of any new generating capacity in the electric power system requires a comprehensive dynamic analysis of its operation in order to verify whether it remains stable in all expected operating conditions. The study includes small-signal stability analysis of synchronous generator in the hydro-power plant Brežice.

Dynamic analysis of thermal-power plant Šoštanj (unit 5) inclusion in the 220 kV electric power system

Client: TERMOELEKTRARNA ŠOŠTANJ d.o.o.

Installation of any new generating capacity in the electric power system and refurbishment processes requires a comprehensive dynamic analysis of its operation in order to verify whether it remains stable in all expected operating conditions. The study includes small-signal stability analysis of thermal-power plant Šoštanj (unit 5) after its connection to 220 kV network in the Slovenian power system.
